Age: 15+ (turns 16 about a month after joining the Titans)
Born: England, 1st December 1884 (Sagittarius)
Family: Father (Jacob), Mother (Josephine), 3 older sisters (Victoria, Sarah & Ellen) - all long since deceased
Affiliation: Hero: Teen Titans (Also does her best to butt into LueniTitan’s hero team Backdraft whenever possible, despite not being an actual member.)
Relationships: Lucy genuinely aims to make friends with EVERYBODY. Here are some notable ones though;

HISTORY

Lucy had an incredibly secluded childhood, fraught with doctors visits as her parents desperately tried to ‘cure’ her of the odd powers she seemed to possess. This left Lucy very lonely, distressed and restless, so as soon as the opportunity arose when she was 13, she ran away with the circus.

Showing off the brilliant tricks she could do with her powers, the Ring Master quickly paired Lucy with the resident magician (posing as his assistant and earning the stage name “Illusion”). She flourished as a magician and for 2 years both the magic act and circus prospered. But her mentor grew envious of Lucy’s legitimate powers and – in a moment of dark selfishness - ended up striking a deal with a demon for his own magical powers…a deal which left Lucy trapped inside a crystal ball.

Over the next hundred years or so said crystal ball was sold, stolen, traded and swapped many hands, eventually finding its way to a small magic shop in Jump city. It was here in the present day where the Teen Titans discovered the magical artefact and (all be it accidentally) set Illusion free. Indebted to them for setting her free, Illusion pledged loyalty to the Titans, who in turn found her to be a valuable asset to the team.

PERSONALITY

~People-pleaser~ Polite and Well-mannered, but also a definite Show-off with a Need to impress that expresses itself in a surprisingly fierce Competitive streak. Intensely friendly - bordering on being Needy/Clingy - however very Considerate and Compassionate overall. Motives are always Well-Intentioned (if not always well-placed) although a deep need for acceptance means she’s also Inclined to give into peer-pressure.

~Extrovert~ A Social Butterfly functioning best with other people around to recharge her. Outgoing and Inquisitive, she’s constantly finding new things to do and people to see. Imaginative, Creative and Resourceful to boot.

~Charismatic, Charming and Confident~ Ever the Optimist and liberal with compliments. Good motivator. Sees the best in situations and people alike, unfortunately meaning she’s inclined to be Gullible and misplace her trust. Often Flirty, whether intentionally or not. Will wear a Coy Bravado to cover true feelings in emotionally-compromising situations. The happiness and safety of other people mean more to Lucy than her own well-being, meaning she also possesses an unnerving Self-sacrificing side.

~Emotional~ Thinks with her heart over her head nearly exclusively. Very Affectionate and loves both giving and receiving hugs and kisses. Empathetic to even the hardest of hearts with a habit of siding with the underdog. A Rubber Ball; Lu will bounce back from pretty much anything so long as she’s got the right kind of support.

~Impatient~ Keen to make the most of life Lucy is A “Do-er” - learning best by diving in. “You never know unless you try”, after all! Keen to learn and a Quick study. Has a surprising Rebellious streak carried over from childhood - The quickest way to get Lucy to do something is to tell her she can’t. Also has a bad habit of pushing past things before she’s really ready resulting in a lot of unresolved issues behind that perky demeanour...

FEARS/INSECURITIES

Monophobia/Autophobia (Fear of being alone): Being confined for the majority of her childhood and then having to suffer more than a century trapped inside a crystal ball all by herself...? Makes even the smallest form of loneliness a sad reminder of two of the worst times in her life. Gets fidgety and distressed very quickly when alone. Will obsessively busy herself in an attempt to keep her mind occupied.

Slight inferiority complex: Lu’s quite literally behind on the times. It only takes one off-hand reference she doesn’t understand to make her self-conscious about all the other things she has yet to catch up on. Always seeing the best in people can be a detriment too, when it leads to automatically assuming they’re better in every respect. On a never-ending quest to better herself in order to combat this.

Insomniac: Result of being in the crystal ball. Partly developed because she didn’t sleep during the entire time she was trapped (it’s a strange custom to have to re-learn; “Hey, let’s be periodically unconscious for 8 hours at a time!”), but also because she’s adamant about not missing out on anything. A very light-sleeper more inclined to cat-nap, so rarely dreams. Lu also had some pretty crappy experiences with being sedated as a kid, but that leads more onto the next point…

HATES Doctors & anything medical: A childhood of incessant doctors trying to fix a non-existent problem will do this to a kid :I …in Victorian times, of all things. When bloodletting was still a cure-all.

Cleithrophobia (Fear of being trapped): Different from claustrophobia. Lu can quite happily be in a small space and not bat an eyelash so long as she knows there’s a way out (which is why she’s fine doing escapology tricks later in life). But stick her anywhere without a foreseeable way out - even a large building/complex – and she swiftly gets agitated/panicked. Finding that way out becomes an ever-increasing priority.

POWERS

Manipulation of light:
Creating/Extinguishing light sources
Creating illusions
Altering appearances/colours
Making surfaces reflective (or matt, if already reflective)
Invisibility
Production of “Light Beams” (The only aspect of her powers for now that can cause serious physical damage. Work similar to Starfire's star bolts)

LIMITATIONS OF POWERS

Only applicable the things in her field of vision: Meaning she can’t create illusions in another room, for instance. This also means it’s highly difficult for her to make moving objects (other than herself) invisible as she can’t be sure where they are.
Only manipulates LIGHT: Can’t physically change something, only give the illusion it has. That being said, because her illusions are virtually flawless people who are none-the-wiser will react to them as if they were real (eg; backing away from fire, stopping at a seemingly solid wall, and so on).
More difficult the detail, more difficult the illusion is to perform/maintain: Because of this Lu will often base illusions around solid objects as it gives a good basis. Exceptions to this rule are her Light Beams, Lightning and flames (which are rather sporadic anyway, so don’t need as much care taken over their shape, however detailed she makes them).

SIDE EFFECTS OF POWERS:

Eye colour naturally fluctuates: Sometimes alternating less hyperactively than other times, Lu likes “setting” her eyes at blue. If she forgets to maintain the illusion they will change of their own accord as usual. They do eventually settle on one colour in her later teens, but she continues to give herself blue eyes for quite a while.
Sees extended version of the light spectrum meaning;
- Colours appear more vivid
- Good vision over all, even in the dark
- Can see hints of ultra-violet and infra-red
Must have adequate exposure to sunlight: Highly susceptible to Vitamin D deficiency (actually causing a bout of rickets when she was younger) which a good dose of sunlight is best at providing. BB once remarked Lucy was ‘solar-powered’ xP
Gets neither sun burnt nor tanned.

_{ADDITIONAL NOTES ON POWERS: Lucy spent pretty much her entire time in the crystal ball experimenting and honing her powers which is why she can create near-perfect illusions. Her magician’s knowledge also gives an added advantage as she understands the value of misdirection and just how easily the human brain can be fooled.
When feeling emotionally darker/angrier/upset, Lu’s more likely to manipulate shadows/darkness opposed to use bright lights and flashy things like she usually would.}

From Circus: Trained magician excelling at slight-of-hand tricks; Juggling; Knife Throwing; Basic gymnastic skills; novice tightrope walker.
From Titans: Wielding a bow staff; More advanced gymnastics; Combat training. CAN SWIM. _{…she takes up a variety of other dance lessons as well, but this isn’t something she technically learns BECAUSE of the Titans. Just whilst she’s a member of the team.}

STRENGTHS:

Master of disguise; Stealthy; Fabulous at Distractions; Dexterous; Observant; Motivated/Motivational; Quick learner; Adaptable; Good Actress.

WEAKNESSES:

Overall physical strength and hand-to-hand combat; Relies heavily on powers; Naïve/Gullible to an extent; Sensitive (easily distressed/upset); Easily distracted; Weak swimmer.

WEAPONS:

Tiny Top Hat: Actually a Pocket Dimension, handy for keeping things in.
Bo Staff: Nicknamed her “Beau” Staff and altered to look like a magic wand. Can collapse down to the size of a typical wand as well.
Throwing Knives: Also collapsible. Not something Lu actually uses a lot, but they’re there just in case and she is pretty skilled with them. More likely to use them for cutting objects or pinning things in place than actually, like, stabbing people.
Smoke Pellets: Small spherical pellets used to create quick bursts of smoke. Smoke comes in various colours and varying degrees of spread.
Assortment of lock Picks: As well as the classic lock picks kept about her person, Lu also keeps short lengths of wire hidden within her gloves in case of emergency.

Classic Handcuffs: Good for apprehending villains and buying time with supervillains (before they inevitably escape them :I)

Magicians Handkerchiefs: Loool not really a weapon, but still useful in a multitude of cases (ie; picking up evidence, emergency bandages, using a string of them as rope/bindings…catching sneezes.)

TRIVIA:

Whenever questioned how her powers work Lu simply replies “magic”.
Draws parallels between people and various members of the circus.
Most people assume Lu grew up at the Circus the way she talks about it, and she’s more than happy to let them believe that.
Always carries a deck of cards.
Wears a corset and will continue to do so her entire life. Oddly enough, she finds modern underwear too uncomfortable.
Owns a rabbit (“Hattie”) and two doves (“Arpeggio” & “Galileo”).
Is ambidextrous with a slight left-hand biased. Only writes with her right hand because she was forced to as a kid.
